For decades Guji coffees were sold as Sidamo. Since the 2010s the region has earned its own listing — and with it some of the highest-scoring Ethiopian lots on the international market.
A short history
Guji is part of the Oromia Region and shares much of its terroir with Yirgacheffe to the north. The recent investment in private washing stations and traceable smallholder lots has made Guji the source of choice for competition coffees.
What buyers say about Guji
"If you want a coffee that walks into the room, you buy a Guji natural. They've redefined what we expect from East Africa."— Roaster, London micro-roastery
